How to Demonstrate for Eligibility:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher
  • Challenge yourself with rigorous coursework
  • Show enthusiasm for learning beyond grades

NHS Activities That Exemplify This:

  • Peer tutoring program in the library
  • Study groups for challenging courses
  • Academic mentorship for underclassmen
Service

Voluntary contributions to school and community without financial benefit

How to Demonstrate for Eligibility:

  • Consistent, sustained volunteer work (not just one-time events)
  • Service to BOTH school AND local community
  • Unpaid work helping others outside your family

NHS Activities That Exemplify This:

  • Elementary school reading visits
  • Kids in Motion youth sports support
  • Senior citizen tech assistance (GVCO)
  • Chapter service projects
Leadership

Taking initiative and inspiring others to achieve shared goals

  • Active participation in positions of responsibility
  • Show initiative, not just hold elected positions
  • Set high standards for yourself and others

Character

Integrity, ethics, cooperation, and positive behavior

  • Maintain a clean discipline record

  • Demonstrate respect for teachers and peers

Monthly Meetings

Attend 1 meeting per month (AM or PM option available)

Service Projects

Participate in chapter service + complete an Individual Service Project (ISP)

Academic Standing

Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher

Annual Dues: $20
